Not Fragile Like A Flower, Fragile Like A Bomb!

'Not Fragile Like A Flower, Fragile Like A Bomb!' is a powerful tribute to the iconic artist Frida Kahlo, part of the Black Lipstick Army series. Frida’s life exemplifies the resilience and strength that define this collection. Despite enduring immense pain and tragedy—surviving a near-fatal bus accident, battling severe health issues, and experiencing heartbreak and loss—Frida never wavered. Her art became an outlet for her struggles, but it also reflected her unyielding spirit. Passing at the age of 47, Frida’s legacy reminds us of the ability to persevere, no matter the trials we face.
Frida was chosen for this series because her life is a testament to the strength through adversity that the Black Lipstick Army represents. Like the women in this series, she was unapologetically herself—fierce, strong, and defiant.
For those looking to bring this empowering artwork into their own space, 11" x 17" prints are available for purchase at $25, and greeting cards featuring this painting are available for $5 each.
I’m honored to share that my painting, "Not Fragile Like A Flower, Fragile Like A Bomb!" is currently on view in Pasión de Frida, a special event held at Puerto Alegre (546 Valencia St., San Francisco) on Saturday, June 28th from 11:00–1:30. This vibrant celebration is part of Fiestas Fridas in La Misión and pays tribute to the powerful and enduring spirit of Frida Kahlo.
This piece is available exclusively through the show, and I’m deeply grateful to be part of an event that also gives back — a portion of proceeds will support the Mission Education Center. Thank you for supporting the arts and the legacy of Frida. ¡Viva Frida!
