MAGDalena
Acrylic on 20" x 24" Canvas
Artist Carolyn Wolf
Magdalena holds a deeply personal place in my heart. The model is actually my sister, and through this painting, I wanted to capture a side of her that not everyone gets to see: the softer, more vulnerable spirit beneath her bold exterior.
While her strength remains unmistakable in her steady gaze and tattoos, there is also a quiet gentleness and thoughtfulness that I felt compelled to honor. Painting her felt like a quiet conversation between us, nestled within lavender fields at sunset, a setting as peaceful, strong, and full of quiet beauty as she is.
Though capturing the true depth of this piece in a photograph was surprisingly challenging, you can experience her in person at the 9th Annual Women’s Art Show on Saturday, October 17th, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. I truly enjoyed bringing this piece to life, and I hope it resonates with you as deeply as it does with me.
